Brian Stewart is a retired Stephenson County Sheriff’s Sergeant and Freeport Businessman who serves as the Illinois State Senator for the 45th Senate District.
Brian is a fifth-generation native of Northwest Illinois who attended Freeport High School. He is an Army veteran, serving as a Military Police Officer and Military Police Investigator. Upon completion of his military service, Brian returned to Freeport to serve as a Stephenson County Sheriff’s Deputy, rising to the rank of sergeant.
Brian would start a small business at his dining room table, which would enable him to retire early from law enforcement to grow his company full-time. Today, Stewart & Associates employs almost 500 people throughout two dozen businesses units across America. Most of these businesses are located in Northern Illinois, centered in his hometown of Freeport.
In addition to his professional career, Brian has served as a Freeport Alderman and Freeport Township Trustee. He also served as Chairman and Board Member of the Northwest Illinois Criminal Justice Commission, Stephenson County ETSB (911) Board, Freeport Area Chamber of Commerce and the Northwest Illinois Development Alliance.
Brian is the former Chairman of the United Way of Northwest Illinois, FHN Foundation Be Cancer Free Campaign and was the Charter President of the Stephenson County Employees – UAW Local 2261. He is a current member of the Freeport Rotary, AMVETS Post 32 and the Stephenson County Farm Bureau.
