Since her appointment earlier this year, Hills has emerged as a strong voice for families, and she’s just getting started.

Kate McGrath Announces Run for Illinois State Senate in 29th District

Kate McGrath, a self-employed mom, New Trier alum, and community leader, today announced her candidacy for the Illinois State Senate in the 29th District. A lifelong resident of the Chicagoland area and local insurance agent serving families and businesses across Illinois, McGrath is running to fight the growing cost of living and bring fiscal responsibility back to Springfield.
“Our state’s priorities are upside down and Illinois is at a breaking point,” said McGrath. “Families are being squeezed by rising taxes, higher prices, and job-killing policies that are driving opportunity out of our state. I’m running to be a voice for the people who feel like no one in Springfield is listening.”

David Mathis Announces Run for Illinois State Senate in 27th District
David Mathis, a decorated Marine Corps and Army National Guard veteran, father of five, and longtime public safety professional, today announced his candidacy for the Illinois State Senate in the 27th District. Mathis, who recently retired from the military after 23 years of service, says he is running to bring common-sense leadership and a service-first mindset to Springfield on behalf of working families who feel left behind.
“We’re a working family just like the ones I’m running to represent,” Mathis said. “We know what it’s like to juggle bills, schedules, and responsibilities while trying to build a better future for our kids. Families are working harder and harder, but it’s getting more difficult to get ahead. That’s personal for me.”
